Driver Training Lesson Adaptability

When conducting training for any driver, you the trainer may be presented with circumstances which mean you need to adapt your lesson plan.

When you plan a lesson you consider aspect which the candidate needs to work on and improve but also ensure you cover all relevant topics. You try to plan to fit this all in within the allotted lesson period, however you may discover the need to change. There are a few possible explanations, particularly with Exeter, East Devon and Sidmouth which has a select few arterial routes.

Traffic in the modern training environment can throw the best laid plan right out of the window. Be sure to have a back up plan, for example with a learner driver, this could be to practice manoeuvres. An advantage of being familiar with your training area is being able to predict and plan around the busiest times of day.  As I state on my learners lessons page https://www.firstdrivesouthwest.co.uk/lessons/East Devon has some great roads which requires different skill sets for each and this helps a driver understand car control and these can also be used if the roads you usually drive on become blocked.

As a trainer you may also find that your student has forgotten or become rusty on a previously taught skill set. A trainer will need to be aware of this as it is important to fix any issue before moving forward to the next topic. Depending on the level at which you are training, simple Q&A may be all that it takes for the student to remember what to do in order to achieve success. Do not be afraid to change your lesson plan if these circumstances arise. If you are able to practice this skill a lot learning from previous experiences you have had, a lesson should always have a positive outcome.

If your training covers all of Devon, here are some suggestions for great driving roads http://www.hamiltongarage.co.uk/news/3-of-the-best-driving-roads-in-devon/35609

These would be great for a driver undertaking a higher level of in car training.
